CIU 20 organized the regional STEM Design Challenge at the Northampton Community College's Monroe Campus on April 3rd. The following LEAs participated: East Stroudsburg Area SD, Easton Area SD, Moravian Academy, Nazareth Area SD, Northampton Area SD, Pocono Mountain SD and Wilson Area SD. The first place team in each division (grades 4-5 and grades 6-8) from the Colonial IU 20 regional competition will compete in the state competition at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, PA on May 3, 2024.
Students in grades four through eight were presented with a challenge and then built an object using K’Nex pieces with a unique blueprint. On the competition day, each team presented a narrative report, submitted blueprints and were required to build their object within a two hour window. The specific challenge for this year was to help Pennsylvania farmers by creating an agricultural robot or other type of “high-tech farming” equipment.
