The modernized system is the result of planning with stakeholders and piloting variations of the form with Northampton Area and Pleasant Valley School Districts. For each type of referral, the form is customized to require submission of all necessary information and supporting documents. The form can be accessed by clicking the "Referrals" link on the front page of the Colonial IU 20 website.
During the 2018-2019 school year, CIU 20 formed a focus group to explore options to streamline and standardize the referral process. CIU 20 representatives gathered information from member districts, neighboring IU’s, and technology vendors. In the summer of 2019, the team developed an electronic form using an online form builder and the first pilot was launched in November 2019.
