CIU20 and the Allentown Diocese have received notification that our Act 183 E-Fund grant application has been approved and that we will be receiving approximately $500 thousand dollars to assist in the development of a Wide Area Network for the Diocesan schools, professional development and digital content distribution. More than 40 Diocesan schools have agreed to participate in the project at various levels of connectivity. This project will result in many of the Diocesan schools establishing connectivity to the PAIUNet statewide educational network and to Internet2. The connectivity will provide opportunities for CIU20 as well as IUs 14, 21 and 29 to provide services to the non-public school students via the broadband network connections that are being established. Teachers in the Diocesan schools will have opportunities to participate in 21st Century teaching and learning skills professional development as well as in the use of state-of-the-art videoconferencing equipment.
